Nursery Admissions

Please see below information regarding admissions for parents on applying for Telscombe Cliffs Nursery.

Welcome to Telscombe Cliffs Academy Nursery.

Within our Nursery, we offer places for children from the age of 2 up until starting school. We have capacity for 2 two year olds per session (either morning 8.30-12.15 or afternoon 12.15-3.15). When children reach 3, we are able to offer them full day sessions, subject to capacity.

The nursery opens at 8.30am and the children can come into our class as soon as they arrive. Please drop the children off by 8.45am.

• Our morning session is: 8.30am until 12.15pm with lunch at 11.45am
• Our afternoon session is 12.15pm until 15.15pm
• If your child attends all-day they start at 8.30am, have lunch at 11.45am and finish at 3.15pm – the window for collection runs from 3-3.15pm to allow children to be collected from Nursery before collecting older children from the school.

Our Nursery:

We have a big classroom which has: a home corner, a reading area, a construction area, a mark-making area, creative areas, messy play areas, small world play and lots of other fun activities you can do every day!

A typical day in Pine Cone class goes like this:

Arrival

Parents will arrive at the classroom main door with their child and staff will be there to greet everyone. Please help your child to put their packed lunch on the trolley, water bottle in the box and to hang their bag up. Children will hang their coat on the peg and then stick their photo card on their drawer.

Free-Flow

It’s time for free flow, where children can play to learn indoors and outdoors. Sometimes they might do some one-to-one or group learning with the teacher or key person.

It’s a quick tidy and then snack & carpet time. Don’t forget to ensure you give your child a water bottle daily. After snack we get straight on with more free flow play to learn.

Carpet Time

Nursery children all help to tidy up before the carpet session, which includes singing songs and nursery rhymes and adding actions and movements to music! All children will wash their hands ready for lunch.

Lunch Time

All nursery children sit down together for lunch time. They will get to chat to their friends while they eat lunch. Staff are there to give any help needed to aid independence. After lunch children might go home if they are attending the morning session only and the rest continue their play to learn.

Change Over – 12.15pm

This is our change over time where some children will finish their morning session and go home to tell their grown-ups all about the fun they have had in Pine Cone class. Some children will be starting their afternoon session and they will get to go straight to join friends for play to learn.

Afternoons run similarly to the morning

• Carpet time where children will sing more songs, practise some counting songs and learn to count objects and say the number and learn lots of other fun things! Then free flow provision will begin, where children can play to learn indoors and outdoors. Some children might do some one-to-one or group learning with the teacher or key person. 
• It’s a quick tidy and then snack & carpet time. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle daily. After snack there is further opportunities for free flow play to learn.
• Finally, it is time to tidy-up and get our belongings ready to go home.

Home Time!

Children can tell their grown-ups all about a very busy day and all the fun they have had in Pine Cone class.
